Dental implants in Liverpool: the permanent solution to missing teeth

Losing a tooth changes more than your smile. It changes how you speak, how you chew, and often how confident you feel in social situations. Left untreated, the gap also has consequences you can't see - the jawbone in that area begins to deteriorate without the stimulation of a tooth root, and neighbouring teeth can start to drift.

Dental implants are the only tooth replacement option that addresses all of this. At Dr Rez Dental in Liverpool, implant surgery is one of our core specialisms - and with Dr Reza Dilmahomed holding a Masters in dental implantology, you're in thoroughly experienced hands.

What is a dental implant?

An implant is a small titanium post placed into the jawbone where a tooth root used to be. Titanium is biocompatible - the bone fuses around it over a period of months in a process called osseointegration. Once fully integrated, the implant is as stable as a natural tooth root. A crown is then attached via a component called an abutment, creating a replacement tooth that looks, feels, and functions like the real thing.

What can dental implants treat?

Single tooth implants - replacing one missing tooth with a standalone implant and crown, without touching the surrounding teeth.

Implant-supported bridges - where two or more missing teeth in a row are replaced using implants as anchors rather than filing down adjacent healthy teeth.

Implant-retained dentures - a far more stable alternative to conventional removable dentures, which can slip and cause discomfort.

Full arch implants (All-on-4 and All-on-6) - replacing an entire arch of teeth using as few as four or six strategically placed implants.

Immediate full arch (same-day teeth) - in carefully selected cases, a full set of provisional teeth can be fitted on the same day as implant surgery.

The surgical process explained plainly

At Dr Rez Dental we use guided surgical planning - the position of every implant is mapped in three dimensions before surgery begins using our CBCT scanner. Surgical guides, printed in our own in-house 3D printing facility, ensure each implant is placed with precision. This reduces surgical time, improves accuracy, and speeds up recovery.

Following placement, there's a healing period of three to six months while the implant fuses with the bone. A temporary restoration keeps the area looking presentable throughout. Once integration is confirmed, your permanent crown or bridge is fitted.

What about complex cases - bone loss and sinus lifts?

At Dr Rez, we offer advanced bone regeneration and grafting techniques - including sinus lifts, block grafts, socket grafts, and PRF (platelet-rich fibrin) therapy. We work with leading implant systems including Straumann, Conelog, Camlog, BioHorizons, and Anthogyr.

If you've previously been told implants aren't possible for you, it's worth getting a second opinion. In many cases where other practices have declined treatment, our implant team has been able to offer a viable solution.

How much do dental implants cost in Liverpool?

Implant costs depend on the number of implants required, whether bone grafting is needed, and the type of restoration being fitted. We offer 0% interest-free finance for up to twelve months and longer-term payment plans. A full breakdown is available on our fees and finance page. For a personalised quote, the starting point is always a free consultation.

FAQs

How long do dental implants last?

With proper care, implants can last a lifetime. The crown on top may need replacing after ten to fifteen years, but the implant itself is designed to be permanent.

Does the implant procedure hurt?

It's performed under local anaesthetic, so the procedure itself is not painful. Some soreness and swelling in the days following surgery is normal and manageable with over-the-counter pain relief.

Am I too old for implants?

Age alone is not a barrier. The key factors are bone quality, general health, and the absence of conditions that impair healing.

Can I get implants on the same day?

In selected cases, yes. Same-day full arch treatment involves fitting provisional teeth on the day of surgery. Suitability depends on bone quality and the specific case.

Been a Dr. Rez patient for around 4 years now. From initially needing a lot of work done to now just regular check ups and cleaning. I can confidently say it's been one of my best decisions. From being a very nervous patient to now quite enjoying my appointment (relatively anyway ha). Currently my therapist is Lilly, very ably assisted by Mel and they couldn't be more encouraging, thoughtful and nice. I get great advice and couldn't feel better looked after. Couldn't recommend more.
